MandateRegulates and controls the production, sale, import and export of seed for sowing, and provides for the testing, certification and minimum standards of germination and purity of seed, under the Plant Variety and Seeds Act (Cap 236).
ServicesTests candidate crop varieties for Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability (DUS) and Value for Cultivation and Use (VCU) before registration; certifies seed to national and OECD-recognised standards; runs the national official seed testing laboratory (germination, vigour, purity, moisture and seed health testing); and enforces Plant Breeders' Rights.
