The reason a bank will not lend to a farm that clearly works is that the farm cannot prove it works. Divisi's ledger records every input bought and every sale made, against the crop and the field, in the currency you actually paid in — and totals it into the figure a buyer, a co-operative or a lender will look at.
You know the maize did better than the groundnuts. You cannot prove it, you cannot show anyone, and next season you will decide the same way you decided last season: on a feeling, not a number.
Which crop actually paid
A farm-wide total hides the thing you need to know. Divisi files every expense and every sale against the crop and the field it belongs to, and keeps farm-level overheads — fuel, rent, a repair — separate from them. So at the end of the season you are not looking at one number for the farm; you are looking at what the maize earned, what the groundnuts earned, and which crop deserves a different plan next season.
Currency that moves, records that don't
Where the local currency moves month to month, a season's figures stop being comparable to each other by the time you read them back. Divisi records each entry in the currency you actually paid or were paid in, and fixes its value at the rate on the day the transaction happened — so comparing this January to last January means something, and no later swing rewrites what a season looked like at the time.

What we don't claim
Ledger entries are never edited or deleted. A mistake is corrected by recording a correction against the original, and both stay visible. That is deliberate and it is occasionally inconvenient: a record anyone can quietly change afterwards is worth nothing to the lender or buyer you eventually want to show it to, and the whole point of keeping it is that someone else can trust it.
