A government scheme that subsidises fertiliser — and, through the same system, improved seed, pesticides and small-scale irrigation technology — for farmers growing priority food crops, delivered through the digital Smart Nkunganire System (dial *774#).

| Who qualifies | Farmers growing the crops covered by the subsidy — maize, beans, wheat, rice, soybeans, potatoes, cassava, bananas, vegetables and fruit trees — who register on the Smart Nkunganire System. |
| What you get | Subsidised fertiliser at a reduced retail price. Example: one kilogram of urea officially retails at Rwf1,980; the government contributes Rwf890 of that, so the registered farmer pays about Rwf1,090. |
| How to register | Register on the Smart Nkunganire System by dialling *774# and following the prompts, through the Smart Nkunganire mobile or web app, via a sector agronomist, or at a designated registration centre. |
